2019 Rodeo Success!

Congratulations to the 2019 Rodeo Committee!

At the FCA Finals in Strathmore (September 13-15, 2019), the Didsbury Ag Society was named the FCA Rodeo Committee of the Year for 2019. A great honour for all involved, and much appreciated recognition for the many hours of dedicated work.

Additionally, long-time Ag Society member, past president, and tireless contributor to  the Annual Didsbury Rodeo (acting as arena director among numerous other jobs), Vair Whitlow was named Volunteer of the Year. Congratulations!

Thank you for a fantastic 2019 Didsbury Rodeo!

Friday afternoon was cool and wet, but that didn't damper the Didsbury spirit! Spectators and contestants who braved the chilly weather were rewarded with fantastic performances and a spectacular light show with the Prairie Thunder Fireworks show after dark. Thank you to everyone who came out, and thank you to all the volunteers who make this rodeo possible.

Saturday was bright and sunny, and we saw record-breaking crowds come out to enjoy the rodeo action, with a bonus Freestyle Motocross show featuring local rider, Billy Kohut.

Other highlights of the rodeo included Mutt'n Bustin' , the Catch 'n' Keep scramble, and the Wild Pony Races as well as all the regular rodeo events such as bareback, saddlebronc, junior steers, barrel racing, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, and, of course, bull riding. Thank you to all the cowboys and cowgirls who gave their all and entertained the crowds all afternoon, as did Dawson Northcott, the rodeo clown.

Outside the rodeo arena, the Kid Zone was a big draw for the young ones, and the ever-popular concession kept everyone fed and satisfied. And, this year we added a special event following the Saturday rodeo performance—Freestyle Motocross featuring Billy Kohut! This spectacular show lived up to our great expectation!
